I'm really scared, can someone please help me...?!

Question: I'm really scared, can someone please help me!.!.!.!?
I'm a 16 year old female and I went to the doctors last Friday because my lower back was killing me and I could not walk!. I found out I had a Pilonidal cyst and was put on antibiotics!. After a few days it started to stop hurting and I could do everything it was preventing me to do, such as walking!. I think Monday is my last day of taking the antibiotics!. Anyway, this morning I realized that my lower back was starting to hurt again and now it's starting to hurt when I sit and somtimes walk!. My doctor said that if it doesn't go away or if it comes back, I'll need surgery to have the cyst removed!. I'm so scared, I really don't want to have surgery!. Does anybody know if it's possible that it could be coming back!? Sorry, if the spelling is off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Honey, I'm sorry you are scared!. But you know what, surgery is an umbrella term used for a whole lot of procedures starting from making a small incision to cracking open a skull!. Luckily, in your case, as far as I know, all you have to go through is relatively simple incisions to drain the pus from the cyst!. Don't get me wrong!. I'm not simplifying your pain!. I just don't want you to be scared!.

So how about calling your doctor and asking what the surgery might actually involve!? That way you can make an informed decision!.

In the mean time, you might try this:
1!. Once a day sit in a warm tub of water!. Make sure the tub is clean!.
2!. if you can make a quick run to the local Walgreens or WalMart pharmacy an find Teatree oil, buy it!. Then after a hot water session, wet a cotton ball in water, add say 3 drops of the oil in the ball and apply the diluted oil to the cyst!. Just gently rub!. Don't squeeze!.

To prevent future recurrence, this is what I found on the net that you could do:

* Remove any hair from this area on a regular basis!. Shaving or depilatory creams work well, but you may need laser treatments for hair removal!.
* Clean the area daily with glycerin soap, which tends to be less irritating!. Rinse the area thoroughly to remove any soapy residue!. Washing briskly with a washcloth helps keep the area free of hair accumulation!.
* Keep the area clean and dry!. Don't use powders, oils or herbal remedies on this area!.
* Avoid sitting for long periods of time!.

Hang in there!. I know it is scary!. But it IS curable and preventable!.

P!.S!. And your spelling is not off love :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pilonidal cysts, or in your case pilonidal abscessess, can come back even with surgical treatment!. They're a boil at the base of your spine originating around a hair follicle!. They happen mostly in young adults, more males than females, up to about 40
and are rather painful and generally do not improve with antibiotics!.
I'll post a website for you that contains all kinds of information for you to read!. You better head back to the doctor and get it taken care of properly!.
Good luck to you!. I hope you feel better soon!.
