Question: Could it kill you if you drink alcohol while you are on medication for depression and anxiety!?
I am asking because my friend is taking medication for depression and anxiety and he drinks alot, I would also like to know how much of both he would have to take in order for it to kill him so I don't let it get out of hand, I will choose the best answer as soon as I canWww@Answer-Health@Com

Both of these types of medications have a warning on them pertaining to not drinking alcohol while on them!.

The anti-anxiety is a central nervous system depressant!. Alcohol is also a CNS depressant!. If someone takes too many of the anti-anxiety meds along with a lot of alcohol it could: Depress breathing, effect the heart and one could essentially die---or wind up in a coma!.

Karen Ann Quinlan ingested valium and alcohol at a party!. Her intent was just to get high!. She came home, went to sleep and never awoke!. She was in a vegetative state for over a decade!.

The problem with taking anti-anxiety with alcohol is one may forget how many they have taken!. A person may wind up overdosing accidentally!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It should say on the pill bottle not to take with alcohol!. Not entirely sure, but my mom takes those kinds of pills and she drinks all the time!. Not sure if it can and will hurt him, but suggest him to slow it down just to be safe till you get a good enough answer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes alcohol and those drugs can have very bad side effects!. I do not know the exact amount it would take but its best to not mix the two at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
