Is this an eating disorder or is this just a weird phase?!

Question: Is this an eating disorder or is this just a weird phase!?
For the past few months I have been eating really strangely!. Every time I see food or put it in my mouth I feel like I'm going to be sick and sometimes I even retch!. I sit down to eat dinner with my family every evening so I find it hard to quickly get down from the table to scrape my food in the bin when I'm 'done'!. If my mum or dad catches me I feel like crying when they tell me to eat it!. Then again, some other time I just can't stop eating, even until I feel sick, if there's food in the cupboard I just binge no matter how full I get!. I'm not worried about my weight or how I look, I'm actually quite slim for a person of my age (15)!. I have been quite stressed lately for exams and stuff!. Also I have depression and OCD but I'm not being treated for them!. Should I be worried about these strange eating habits!? Are they part and parcel of the depression or am I just being silly to worry!? Thanks :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well it's great that you notice this!.!.!. but something that a lot of people don't know is that eating disorders aren't always caused by someones image of themself!.!.!. it has to do with control!.!.!. you probly feel like everything around you is chaotic right now and you are using food as the one thing in your life that you can control!. Talk to your parents about it or a school counselor!.!.!. it's normal and you're not a bad person because of this but you need to find something else in your life to deal with this problem!.!.!. take out your control energies in the gym or something!.!.!. I think if you start talking about it with an adult now you'll be fine!.!.!. but if you let it go on it could get worse!.!.!.

Sounds like it could be some anxiety or depression related thing!. I have had that before, where I can't eat because even looking at food makes me feel sick!. It goes away after a while, but it seems like you have been dealing with this for too long!. To be sure, I would mention it to your doctor!. At least if it is a phase, that will put your mind at ease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you are deppressed it could be apart of that because it makes you feel better!. also, i think you need to focus on the better parts of life! if you enjoy life and it healthy, yet freely you'll be fine! it could also be stress because it could take a lot out of you and you ned to rebuild strength with food

if i were ud id just relax and not worryWww@Answer-Health@Com

You deffo need to go see a doctor!. I would suggest seeking some help from a therapist for your depression, OCD and the eating thing!. I'm sure they are all related!. But ultimately, they will ruin your life, and the latter is likely to ruin your health too!. It could be really dangerous!.

You're not being silly to worry at all!. Try and get some help, so you can be happy again!.

Good luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think you have an eating disorder as you aren't deliberately not eating or binging!.

It sounds like something is affecting your appetite!. It is worth speaking to your parents or a doctor about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably a good idea to find some sort of treatment for the depression, as depression can cause a difference of eating habits from eating lots of food to eating virtually nothing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

idk but you should see a specialist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It might be the beginning of an eating disorder!. You should get treated for your depression, it will help you with your eating habits a lot!. I have severe depression and just got on Lexapro a few weeks ago, it's helped me!. Before I was like you, I only ate to keep from passing out from weakness, and whenever I did eat it was hard to keep from throwing up each bite!. Now it's a bit easier!.

It will get easier to eat with time, if you treat your depression!. Talk to your parents about it and have them take you to counseling and to see a psychiatrist!. Good luck to you!.

Note: The sooner you get your depression treated, the better!. Going a long time not eating much will slow your metabolism and can make you fat in the years ahead!. I've seen it happen to other depressed people who didn't eat(another reason I try to eat)!. It's the depression that's affecting your eating habits, so get it treated for your overall health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that same thing happened to me last yeah when i was 15!. i was chubby (maybe 160, 5'2'') and just got really depressed and couldn't eat, i'd deny it or throw it up!. like if we would drive by burgerking i would have a plastic bag ready incase i got sick!. i ended up at 115 lbs after two or three months!. all because of stress and depression!.

buuut i'm back up to 180!. being skinny was nice but man was i unhappy!.

if you're feeling stressed, talk to someone! don't end up like me, because the faster weight comes off of you (which it will if you aren't getting any food in your system) the faster you'll gain it all back and then some when you feel healthy again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
