Anesthesiologist part 2?!
Question: Anesthesiologist part 2!?
I was also wondering how do they know how much medicine to give a patient before an emergency surgery without knowing their height or weight!?!?!? and when they do know this how do they figure out how much to give you!?!?!? do they do a formula!?!?!? and why does your throat hurt so bad when you wake up from surgery!?!?!?

Answers:
We can look at a patient and estimate weight, but that is but a tiny part of what determines what we give and how much we give!. It comes from years of training and experience, knowing the particulars of the patient's condition and the proposed surgical procedure, and a million other things!. Once you do a few thousand cases, you know what to do!.
We have rough guidelines for dosages related to weight, but those numbers may or may not be applicable to a given situation!. No formulas!. If it was formulaic, anybody could do it!.
Your throat hurts from the larygoscopy and intubation:
