Guys please help, do i have mono? :(?!

kay, so on tuesday i noticed my tonsels were swelling and they really hurt when i swallowed and coughed, then the next day it hurt more, so i figured i just had tonsilitis or something (this has happened before when they actually turned white =| )!. So my parents were gonna take me to the clinic yesterday because they wanted to see if i had to get them out, but i HATE doctors, i know there for health and everything but i dont know its just weird!. so i told my parents i would wait it out to see if they improved!. today i woke up and they were SUPER sore, like really and when i got to school i felt really tired (like more then usual) and sick like the flu kinda thing!.
so my friends told me i have mono bcuz they had it before and im getting the same symptoms as them!. but i dont know anyone whos had mono recently!.
i shared a drink with a guy who had it about a month ago but thats all i can think of
do you think i have it!?
or is it absolutely necessary to go to the doctors!?
