Question: Should I get my tonsils removed at 15!?
My tonsils are always infected and i always get sore throats!. It also affects my ears which is really painful!. My doctor says that I shouldn't get them taken out because I am too old but I can't the pain anymore!.!.!.they're HUGE! helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

i got mine removed last year at 24!. generally they remove them when you are a child because kids have a higher pain tolerance!. the older you get, the harder it is to handle!. and you know, i wont even lie, mine was HELL to recover from!. BUT i do not regret it!. i had chronic tonsillitis and know what you are going through!. get a different ENT and get it done!. you will be so thankful!Www@Answer-Health@Com
If they are bothering you, you should think about seeing another doctor!. I had mine removed at 17!. They were severely infected but I had no idea!. I just knew that the pain was awful (when I couldn't eat M&Ms, I knew something was dreadfully wrong)!.

Oh man - that's a bummer to have sore throats all the time!. Lots of people had their tonsils out later in life!. Get another opinion - but if your doctor says no perhaps he knows something we don't! But it's awful to have that infection climbinb up into your ears!

you're not too old to get them removed at fifteen!. i know people who have gotten them out in their twenties!. if its causing you so much pain you can't stand it, i would talk to your parents and definalty talk to a different doctor about getting them removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Your doctor just doesn't want the liability, I would push for the surgery!.
They actually require you to have 6 strept throat episodes in 1 year before they will approve it nowadays!. That is nuts!. Do you have any idea how much school you would miss with that much strept throat!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

ppl of all ages get their tonsils out!. it is more likely to happen in younger children though!. if they are really bothering you as much as you say, i recommend seeing an ears, nose, throat specialist!. they most likely will either recommend you get them removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
some doctors prefere not to remove the tonsils in old age because it is a lymphatic organ not only a place of infection, yet you can consult another doctor becuase if the infection is severe, recurrent, and affects your ear it should be removesWww@Answer-Health@Com
