Can i stop my 11 months olds severe diarrea?!

Question: Can i stop my 11 months olds severe diarrea!?
My 11 month old has severe diarrea!. We have been to the doctors and she has had a sample taken but it will take over a week for her results to come back!. She has already had diarrea for a week!. We think it is a combination of teething & a stomach bug that has been going around!. !. Its constant!.
She is constantly drinking so i am not worried about her getting dehydrated but i am wondering if there is something i can give her to help stop the diarrea!. Is there any foods that can help her or something from the chemist!?
thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
potatoes, macaroni and cheese will bind her up some!. dont give meds unless ordered by the md!. it is true that if it is infection it is better out than in!. adequate fluids are very important!. if she is very tired more than usual or not peeing every 4 hours take her to the hospital!. you should put some salve (desitin, balmex) on her bum, im sure it has to be sore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Please do not try to stop her diarrhea!. If she has a bacterial infection, and you stop the diarrhea, the infection can end up poisoning her blood and that can be fatal!. Call the doctor and ask him/her what else can you do while you wait for the results, but I'm sure they'll tell you that you need to keep your baby hydrated and let mother nature run its course!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the diarrhea is that severe and has been going on for a week, I'd get a second opinion!.!. sounds like rotavirus!. There is a product called Gentle Naturals Tummy Soother that may help, it calms and soothes stomach discomfort!. It's all natural containing chamomile and ginger!. Good luck!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Give her lots and lots of fluids!.!.!.!. The reason why people get diarrhea is because they are dehydrated!. the digestive tract doesnt absorb the water into the body like its supposed to!.!.!.hense the runnyness of diarrhea!.!.!.but because all that liquid is being wasted, your child becomes dehydrated!. Try giving her some pedialite(sp!.!?) it should help her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

apple, pear, banana,Www@Answer-Health@Com

just act like the problem doesnt exist and hope it goes away!. its what bush did about oil prices!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try homeopathy!. it really works!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

feed him eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt,

That should help itWww@Answer-Health@Com

Does she have a fever!? How often does she have episodes of diarrhea per day!? You said "Its constant", meaning her diarrhea!? Really, truly constant!? Is it completely watery and explosive, or just soft stools!? If it's truly occurring constantly and it's very watery, you need to get her to another doctor or a hospital right away because no amount of fluid she drinks will keep her from dehydrating if she really has "constant" diarrhea and it's very watery and a lot of it each time (not just a smudge here and there)!.

If she is eating, offer her bananas, rice, apples!. For drinks, something like Pedialyte to replace electrolytes lost from the diarrhea!. Avoid fruits that start with the letter p like pears, peaches, these cause loose stools!.

I'm not sure I believe that it is due to teething!. It's viral or bacterial!. The question is which and how bad is it!. Rotavirus comes to my mind!. My niece had to be hospitalized for it due to dehydration!.

If she has more than a few bouts of diarrhea per day, she can dehydrate very quickly even though she is drinking!. Don't assume just because she drinks that she won't dehydrate!. If she loses more than she drinks, she will still dehydrate even though she is drinking!.

Please watch carefully for dehydration signs!. Signs of dehydration include dry or sticky mouth, few or no tears when crying, eyes that look sunken into the head, soft spot (fontanelle) on top of the head that looks sunken, lack of urine or wet diapers for 4-6 hours in an infant (or only a very small amount of dark yellow urine), lack of urine for 10 hours in an older child (or only a very small amount of dark yellow urine), dry, cool skin, lethargy or irritability, fatigue or dizziness in an older child!.

If she shows signs of dehydration, call her doctor right away or go to an emergency room!. Do not delay!.

Again, don't assume that because she is drinking, she won't dehydrate (if she's losing more than she's drinking, she will still dehydrate)!.

If she is vomiting, I would insist the pediatrician have her treated in hospital with IV fluids right away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
