You are in for it that is in the center of your knee joint!.!.!. your out of the game for a while!.!.!. Let me find a diagram on the Knee so you can see what she is talking about

MCL=Medial Colladeral Ligament

http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Image:Knee_!.!.!.

The MCL is a normal sport injury but when you got hit hard enough for the meniscus to be torn also, it just might need surgery, It just depends on how bad it is torn and if it is displaced or not!. The meniscus is basically cartilage that absorbs shock instead of it radiating up your body!.

Good Luck i KNOW you have be in some friggin pain or on some crazy pain meds, good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, surgery will be the only way to repare this type of injury!. Trust me-I have been through it twice with my hubby!. Four yrs ago he tore his MCL and Meniscus playing football!. He waited a year to get an official diagnosis and by then he had done even more damage!. That operation took 6 hrs and alot of physical therapy afterwards!. He was also placed on a machine that kept his knee moving to strengthen the muscles and placed in a removable brace that went from his ankle to his hip!. His doctor pushed him to walk on his leg right away-only crutches for far walking!. He was back to playing some sports after a year of recovery (softball, golf and fishing)!. Then 2 yrs later he decided to start playing football again-well, his bad knee was fine but he injured his GOOD knee!. This time it was the ACL and MCL plus every other liagment, cartlidge, tendons and tissue there is in the knee!. He ended up with emergency surgery that time and again the operation lasted a little over 6 hours!. That has been almost 2 yrs ago and he is still working at getting back into sports!. He plays softball but is a semi pro fisherman and has decided to be more careful (we'll see)!. With both operations he chose to have cadiver tissue to replace the damaged tissue-his doctor highly recommend this type of procedure and it has worked well so far!. Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!. My hubby suggests to work hard in physical therapy-it gets you back to playing a lot faster!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they're torn, yes, it'll require surgery!. How long will you be out!? It depends on how bad it is!. Could be anywhere from 6 months to years!. My brother in law blew out his MCL and ended up tearing the meniscus due to the increased pressure on the knee!. Over a year post surgery now and he can still barely walk without pain!. He's finally up to being able to ride a bicycle for short periods of time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
