Question: Does anyone need to die in order to retrieve stem cells!?
Like for adult stem cells, can the person voluntarily donate stem cells!? if they can, then why cant people stop freaking out over "killing" embryos and just have more people volunteer!? or is there a catch!? is it a complicated process!? thanks! <3Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, I'm pretty sure that the stem cells have to be taken from the embryo!. But all of the commotion is the fact that the embryo has to be thrown out after the cells are taken!. They see this as killing the unborn baby!. But thats just it, it hasn't even developed into a baby by the time that the cells would have been taken out!. And also, some people are mad over using the cells from embryos that for some reason or another could not develop their baby!. In this case, the embryos would just be thrown out, so why not use the stem cells!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Adult stem cells can be donated via bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell!. If you donate marrow, it is a surgical proceedure, but back to normal in about a week!. Peripheral blood stem cells are harvested using a aphersis machine!. THis is the same process as at the plasma center or certain red cross donations!.
These type of stem cells can be used for stem cell transplant - the medically correct name for bone marrow transplant!.
Cord blood can also be donated or banked after a healthy live birth, and can also be used in this transplant!.
I had my transplant last summer using cord blood!.
