There are way too many possibilities to explore without seeing your throat!. My advice to you is to see a physician!. Some people will experience a sore throat from "post nasal drip" due to allergies, but generally it is not severe!. If you are experiencing pain when yawning, I would think that it is inflammatory pain!. It could be from inflammation in the palatine tonsils, lymph nodes in the neck, or even referred pain from an ear infection!.
While your body was able to fight off the "cold," you may have gotten a secondary bacterial infection that is causing the pain!. Pain is never normal, and if you are still having problems, you need to be seen by your medical provider!. Most likely, you just need an antibiotic!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
