Will BMI of 27.1 on a medical questionnaire stop me getting the job?!

Question: Will BMI of 27!.1 on a medical questionnaire stop me getting the job!?
I have been offered a job subject to medical questionnaire, I answer no to all the questions i!.e!. no medical probs, no history of any treatment, nothing in the family, nothing on my medical records, and I have given consent to my records if necessary!. However I am 5 feet 6 inches and weigh 12 stone which gives me a body mass index of 27!.1 which is apparently overweight (I am a Uk size 12) - will this be cause for concern on my medical form and will they need me to have an examination or have enough cause for concern so as not to appoint me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
In UK at least 70% of females are overweight or obese and 60% of males!. What this means is that more people have a BMI of >25 than have one that is less, so unfortunately you could say the odds are it will have no effect on your employment chances as you are actually in the majority!.

This however does not exempt you from trying to do something about it!. This involves both eating less and, as importantly, doing much more exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you google etc!. it will tell you, you are overweight, but I don't think this will be of concern as you are not hugely overweight and I am sure they give a bit of leeway for muscle etc!. everyone is different, and as you have no other complaints I am sure they won't take it any further and will confirm you in post, if they examined everybody who was a size 14 they would never get anybody appointed! I am sure you will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suppose it depends on the job you are applying for! If you are applying to be a jockey then possibly!.

You cant be refused a job just because of your weight!. They would have a law case on there hands if they discriminated you on weight grounds alone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you want to be a fighter pilot!? Well in that case yes!. Just about any other job!? No - they won't need to worry about you being slightly overweight!. Hell, if they stopped employing people in the UK on that basis then they'd have no staff!.!.!.!. HxWww@Answer-Health@Com

i am not sure try google that will tell you the answer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
