Why do people associate the word "druggy" with people who use marijuana occasionally!?

I don't know why!. But ppl die on a daily basis with alcholol, heroin, crack, cocain, acid!.!.!.!.ect!. But NEVER has ANYONE OD'd on pot!. You can't sit in one spot for an extended amount of time and smoke too much pot and die!. You just pass out!. But you can with every other drug/alcohol out there!. The ONLY reason it is not legal is because the govern't can't find a way to tax it!. I don't smoke pot, but I believe it is the most LEAST harmful drug out there!. You get stupid ppl, you get stupid highons!. But most ppl that smoke pot when they drive or anything slow down and pay attention more!. It's stupid to think pot is horrible, when in reality, Alcohol is WAY MORE harmful and deadly than pot, and thats legal!!

Because they've never tried it themselves!. I'm sick of seeing people answering questions about marijuana so negatively!. I'm willing to bet that nearly half of them have never taken a puff in their life!. And yes, I agree completely, alcohol, as well as "innocent" substances such as caffeine, are also mind-enhancing chemicals, just like THC!. However, we should examine this question in more detail!.
Marijuana and alcohol have been embedded into Western culture MUCH more differently than each other!. Alcohol has been enjoyed by several European generations for centuries!. Marijuana, on the other hand, although "natural" (in the sense that it is plant can grow naturally in fields in places around the world such as Laos), hadn't really been introduced to Western culture until much later!. Until then, because it was found in warmer and more humid climates, marijuana was used by peoples of eastern civilizations such as Asia!. Fast-forwarding all the way to the 20th century, marijuana had, in fact, commonly been used as a therapeutic drug by all sorts of people!. By the 1920s, however, as Prohibition of alcohol began to take effect, "cannabis" too was being considered a mind-enhancing harmful drug!. At this time, middle to upper class, predominantly white Anglo-Saxon Protestant people associated the plant with poorer, working-class people of foreign descent!. In effect, it is no surprise that the American government had decided to call it "Marihuana", as opposed to its former latin name "Cannabis", in order to associate it with foreigners and hence seem less "American!." Alcohol, on the other hand, had been associated with people of European descent for so long, that Prohibition could no longer continue!. The 21st Amendment had to be revoked!. Bootlegging had become all to common (on the other hand, marijuana, which was not really all that popular, was less of a problem)!. To this day, however, marijuana possession is considered illegal in most of America!.
Taking all of this historical BS into consideration, all I'm trying to say is that it basically all comes down to stereotypes!. People associate marijuana with poor, working class people, delinquent rebellious teenagers, and lazy unsuccessful men!. People of all sorts of backgrounds, however, smoke marijuana, from the young to the old, the poor to the rich, and the educated to the uneducated!. Marijuana is not a dangerous drug!. My parents are long term marijuana smokers and it did not stop them from being great parents!. My parents owned 2 rental properties as well as our family home and I dont remember a time we went without!. Both my parents were very hard workers and they provided excellent examples and a very firm foundation for their kids!.
I wonder if they legalized marijuana, would it still be considered a dangerous drug!. I have seen people drunk and I have been around alcoholics and I would choose my weed smoking parents over them any day!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know just because weed is illegal I guess that's why people want to try and insult others!. I personally don't care I am a pot head and proud of it, I smoke everyday with a GPA of 3!.8 and weed has not killed my brain cells like people say!.

Part of the conditioning about cannabis we were thought is that all drugs (illegal drugs) are all one big evil entity called dope!.
That way they could scoop away pot with the more obviously bad drugs like meth and crack!.
That way you don't have to prove how bad it is!.

U R right,!.!.!. they are both drugs and booze is the worst of all! although they are now linking the use of pot as worse the cigarette!. Threr a Saying now that one joint is like a pack of cig's!. I don't know,!. I believe in every thing in moderation, after all pot is organic and booze has to be MADE!! The "powers that be" did;t make booze growing on trees, so the real druggie is the drinker :-))))))) Do ya think!?

First off, people who are alcoholics are in denial, they believe since it is legal it is either "not as bad" or not a drug at all!. Alcoholics like to believe that they are better then those who do "drugs"!.
Although! People who drink in moderation are in full control of their body and senses!. They are not physically or mentally impared!. This is not including people who drink out of moderation i!.e!. drunks!. People who take a "hit" or smoke a blunt are impared!.

The "weed" that you smoke is not legal!. It is chemically changed; there are additives just like cigarettes!.

When someone is called a "DRUGGIE" they are often only referring to illegal drugs!. Drugs are anything that changes the way your body works; perscription medicines are drugs, you're not a druggie if you take medicine because it's legal!.

Marijuana is a dangerous drug even if people do not notice it!. I think the reason people dont ascociate alchochol as a drug as it is legal and not dangerous in small doses!. Marijuana, however, is illegal and strongly makes the consumer want to try new, more dangerous drugs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
