As far as her diet goes, there are lots of things she can have and things she can't!. I have place a web site to show you what she can't have below!.
I am sure her doctor will subscribe her medication that will help her out!. Just remember that sometimes it takes a few months to figure out how much she should take or a combination of medication that will work for her!. As far as her depression goes!. Have her ask her Doctor about PAXIL !. I have been on this for almost 3 months now for depression and anxiety and I have lost 25 pounds now without even trying!. It took away my appetite!. It is one of the symptoms!. I hope this helps!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely!. Pets are GREAT for depression and high blood pressure!. She has to pet it!. Petting animals does indeed help so she should get any pet she wants, a rabbit, a cat, a hamster!. Anything!. Also she shouldn't eat anything high in sodium!. To help with her weight she can take the dog for a walk around the neighborhood!. Its excercise but its still not too strenuous!. It will even help with her heart!. The best of luck to you and your mother!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Low salt diet!. Read labels sodium is hidden in a lot of processed foods!. She should take the medicine that she was given, it doesn't mean she will have to take it forever, but she shouldn't stop without telling her doc!. Losing excess weight is helpful, and walking is good exercise!.

edit: Don't get her a dog unless she wants one!. If it's just you who wants it you will add to her stress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh, don't get her a lab!. They are a pain in the butt!. Mine raises my blood pressure everyday!!! But I still love her!. Maybe she should start the medication or talk to the doctor about some other kind of medication that isn't such a commitment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ask your doctor!. They went to school for this kinda stuff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My advice is for her to find a doctor who will try to determine WHY she is experiencing these issues, as opposed to giving her a pill to suppress a symptom!.
Perhaps an Osteopath is the way to go!. If you want to avoid the pharmaceutical approach!. They are more into treating the person as a whole, not just the illness!.
She should purchase a blood pressure monitor and test herself daily!. Keep a log and test at different times of the day!. Write down when she tests and what she does just before testing, like eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom, etc!.
Also, there are foods that she can eat that can lower bloodpressure- but it is best to speak to an herbalist and naturopath about this!. They can tell what treatment is best for her!. Osteopaths are generally naturopaths as well!.
All my bestWww@Answer-Health@Com

Normal blood pressure is 120/80!.

The number one food she should avoid is SODIUM!. All salt from her diet should be eliminated!.

Diet and exercise is also extremely important!. If she is overweight, her next step should be to reduce her weight!. That factor alone could reduce her BP dramatically!.

Smoking and alcohol should be stopped immediately, also!.

With her blood pressure being as high as it is, she should start the medication immediately!. Hypertension (high blood pressure) left untreated can lead to many problems such as blood vessel damage, enlarged heart, kidney failure, strokes, vision damages, and heart attacks!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Animals are very helpful with this - as long as it is trained and doesn't cause too much stress on her!. (Potty trained, especially!.) My mom works in a nursing home/rehabilitation facility and they have a very loving dog that visits them each day!. It has done wonders to most of the patients there!.

On a side note!.!.!.I'm also a massage therapist!. If she can afford to do so, mention to her reflexology!. I'm not certified in this modality of massage, but I studied it a little!. My brother was due to have surgery, but he was having bouts of high blood pressure!. There is a specific point on the bottom of the foot that I massaged and applied pressure to!. It's the ball just beneathe the big toe!. I applied pressure here for a minute at a time, probably four times altogether, and it dropped it significantly!. I do this now for him twice a week (post surgery) and his doctor is very satisfied with his overall blood pressure readings!

Good luck to her and to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
