I am a MRI technologist, and I only ask patients to remove their piercings if they are in the area of interest!. So, unless you have jewelry on your ankle, there should be no problem!. If you had a MRI of your brain, we would need all jewelry from neck up removed, because the jewelry can cause an artifact, and distort the image!. A watch always has to be removed, because the magnet will break the moving parts of the watch!.

You can hold a refridgerator magnet to your jewelry and see that it is not attracted by that magnet!. I am in close proximity to our MRI machine, on a daily basis, and I have multiple piercings!.!.!.!.I have never had anything ripped out of me! lol

"Appropriate body jewelry is non-magnetic, and as such does not need to be removed for MRI procedures* unless it is located in the region being examined!."

Yes!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.absolutely NO metal is allowed in a MRI machine!. I cannot emphasize it enough!. Absolutely NO metal!. A MRI machine is a huge magnet (literally), and it will pull out every single one of your piercings!.!.!.!.!.!.!.which is not only painful but will make you bleed profusely!. In fact, you can't wear necklaces, or watches either!.

An MRI takes about 45 minutes to an hour!. Your piercings will not close up in that time!. You can safely take them out, and put them back in when your MRI is done!. I have ear piercings as well, and I have not worn earrings for over two months now, and they are still open!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Simply tell the tech "They do not come out, they are soldered closed!." I did my MRIs with the piercings in and unless they're MRIing looking for something weird in your ear or tongue, etc it should make no difference!. yes they will request you remove them!. No, you are not required to do so!. I always tell doctor, tech, surgeon, what have you that they don't come out and they usually leave it at that!. Stainless steel isn't magnetic, and shouldn't interfere with any signals as stated below!. I have gone trough this personally!. Certainly you don't have your ankle pierced!? Best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes you have to take all your piercings out!. its a magnetic imaging!. you can put them all back in as soon as its finished so there is no worries about them closing!. you just dont want the pierces coming out while you are in there and attaching to the MRI machine that would really hurt especially your tongue piercing if you had your mouth closed!.
and imagine the VCH piercing being ripped out by a powerful magnet, ouch!. i think maybe take them all out and just have the mri, and go to the loo after and put them all back, all the best and hope everything works out fineWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. The technicians will ask you to do so before you enter the MRI room, as an MRI uses a magnet to produce images of the inside of your body!. Your piercing would interfere with the signal, and would probably distort the image!. It will only take an hour or so, so your piercings will probably not close up that quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging!. It is, essentially a very large magnet!. Unless you want your piercings forcibly removed by the magnet, you should remove them yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you will absolutely have to take them out!. Take them out right before the MRI, and put em in right after, bring some disinfectant with you to make sure everything stays clean!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will probably have to take them out, but you can wait until just before and put them back right away!. Ask the MRI tech!. or call before and speak to them about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they request it!.!.!.I would!.

There is no way that ur piercings will close-up from being out for one day!!! I've taken mine out for weeks and was still able to put the hardware back in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

why don't u get retainers!?that will stop them from closing! and it won't hav any effect on ur mri!. :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
