Don't be scared; have a look at the link below, it's got lots of info on prolactinomas, and it's very reassuring!.

There's a big difference between having a pituitary tumour and a brain tumour - the main one being, a prolactinoma is benign!. You don't have cancer, and your life isn't in any danger!. The tumour (which in this case simply means 'growth', not cancer), will not grow and spread, so isn't dangerous!.

You're likely to be treated using medications!. These are usually very effective!. They relieve symptoms quickly, and actually shrink the tumour!. If they aren't effective, surgery is also available, but the vast majority of people with the condition don't need it!.

It must have been a nasty shock for you to hear, but don't worry!. You're not in any danger, and your condition is easily treated!. So try to relax!. Talking it over with your parents or a friend may make you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, I was diagnosed with a prolactinoma in 1996!. I was put on Cabergoline to reduce the tumour!. Took about 6 months for medication to shrink the tumour to almost nothing!. Don't worry - you will be fine!. contact me if you need to have a wee chat!. x if i remember, these tumours are almost always non cancerous!. according to the endocrinologist i have been attending for 12 years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Prolactinomas are not malignant tumours!.

They cause problems by growing and exerting pressure on surrounding sturcture, and also by secreting excess hormone!.

The excess hormone can cause milk production from your nipple and problems with your period!.

If it gets really big it can cause problems with your vision!.

However it is really treatable!. Drugs like cabergoline can shrink the mass down so you dont have any problems!. If that doesn't work then it can usually be removed surgically!.

Its not going to kill you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
