I have one on my arm!. It's been trapped under a single layer of skin for like a year!. Someone told me i should dig it out of there, because they can turn into cancer!.

No my friend cancer doesnt occur in this way, cancer is the multiplication of cells of irregular shape resulting in a tumor!. your case is different, but you should have removed it from your arm because it gives an uncomfortable feeling!. Additionally, the bad side of leaving it in your arm is that bacterial growth can occur so either go to the pharmacy for an ointment such as BACROBAN or see a physican to remove it completelyWww@Answer-Health@Com
No, they won't turn into cancer, but the pain they cause is enough for you to bite the bullet and get it taken care of!. If it is swollen, then you need to see a doc for some lidicane and get it taken care of!.
These things have a tendency to cause cysts if they aren't treated and they are very painful and make you miserable b/c there is no way to escape the pain without medication prescribed by the doc!. OTC's don't last long enough and usually don't cut the pain percentage enough to notice!.
Square it away now and don't let it fester!.

In and of itself there is in grown hairs are not harmful but if you try to remove them on your own you run the risk of infection which can lead to a nasty and uncomfortable sore!.
if the hair is not bothering you I suggest leaving it alone but if it causing you discomfort have it removed in a sterile manner by someone who know what they are doing (MD or someone of the sort)Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont think they do turn to cancer!.
but it could get pretty uncomfortable if you leave it there!.
