Question: I was sick the other day and at the end i coughed up A LOT of blood, Any ideas what this is!?
I am 40 years old and a smoker!?!?
I have been haveing really bad head aches at the top of my nose and forhead, Especialy when decending in a air craft!?!?
I have couched up blood in the past but only tiny bits, this time was really scary, i would say about half a cup full of blood came out after i tried to blow my nose so it must be something to do with my synesses!?!?!?!?
What should i do!?!?
I am currently working in IRAQ and do not want to go home for medical attention!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need medical investigation!. All haemoptysis ( coughing up blood, ) needs investigation!. This would need to include a chest X-Ray and sputum samples!.

You may not want to go home for medical attention but this is definitely something for the doctors!. You could have anything from persistent nose bleeds, through TB to cancer!. I don't mean to scare you but this is something that has to be examined and probably X-rayed by a qualified professional!.

It could be something as simple as a nosebleed or something as serious as a tumor, TB or the toxic dust from those "depleted junk" the ammunition are made of (many soldiers have skin and lung problems from exposure to that dust; every time a projectile hit a target it become a fine toxic dust; there are projectiles made of non toxic material, but the toxic metal is cheaper)!.
You better get a check up before this get worst!. If this a tumor or TB you want to deal with it as fast as possible; waiting could cost you your life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

definately go to the doctors, it sounds serious, am not a doctor so not going to attempt to diagnose what it may or may not be!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
could be that youve simply cut inside somewhere from coughing, but when my partner did this he ended up having a stomach ulcer

You need to see a MD & get Blood tests & sputum samples!.
I doubt it's sinuses if it was a large amt!. of blood!. You might ALSO have sinus problems, but I don't have lots of blood!.
You may have sinus headaches exacerbated by flying!.
Try saline nasal spray several times/day!.
Take 2 Advil or Aleve When head pain & use ice pack on back of neck & on bridge of nose!.
When flying use Sudafed day before, Afrin day of flying & antihistamine day after flying (my ENT MD)
You could have bleeding ulcer; bleeding from esophagus from acid reflux or TB!. These can all be very serious &/or life threatening illnesses!.
It could be dust or chemicals where you are!.!.!.I worked down at Ground Zero after 9/11 & many people have chronic rhinitis , sinusitis & bleeding from irritants!.
Pls get checked out medically!.

However I'm agreeing with you!. It sounds sinus related!. I too am 40 and a smoker but I havent had this happen to me (yet) and I hope it doesnt happen to you again!. Especially with the aircraft factor!. it could have been lying back in your throat for quite a while aslo I would think!. Top of nose discomfort and your forehead do attribute to the discomfort your feeling in your sinuses!. If possible buy yourself a cool mist humidifier!. (no need to add vics vapor rub to it) and run that each night while sleeping!. If you can!. being in Irac don't know if you have that option!. Another thing to do is!.!.!.take a q-tip and dip in into vaseline and swirl it around getting a fairly good amount on the tip!. Put the q-tip up one nostril not too far and swirl it around lubricating your nostril!. Then turn the q[tip around to use the other end for the other nostril or just use a new one!. Just not the same tip for each nostril!. (hope I'm explaining this right!.) I have to do this to my son as he is prone to nose bleeds due to his sinuses!. Tihs works wonders!.!.!.do this 3 times a week just before going to sleep if you can!. Good luck to you!.
