My boyfriend needs his meds and we have no money?!

Question: My boyfriend needs his meds and we have no money!?
My boyfriend is seriously ill and on anti-depressants!. His symptoms were getting better for about 4 months on 5 mg dosage Cipralex but he recently started to show similar past signs of his depression!. Last month his doctor suggested that he increase his dosage to 10 mg!. It cost twice as much so he was unable to pay for it and had to go back and get the lowered dosage prescription!. It has now been 3 days since he ran out of his meds and we literally do not have any way to pay for the new prescription!. His work jipped him on his last paycheque and refuse to take actual action on it (they tell him to talk to one person who tells him to talk to the next and so on) so his 56 dollar paycheque (he works 30 hrs/wk) lasted a week and he won't be paid for another full week!. My question is where can he get his prescription filled for free!.!.!.and quickly!? We live in Canada, he has no insurance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can go to the hospital and request an extension on the prescription until you can get it filled again by a doctor!. You can also go to a mental health centre and they can probably give you some to tide you over until you are able to pay for the refills!. It shouldn't be too difficult since the drug is not a narcotic!.
Don't your parents or his parents have a health plan that they are willing to cover him under!? If he's under 25 this can be done!. If not, can't you or your families just lend him the money until he can pay you back!. It's pretty sad if your families aren't willing to help him out when it comes down to health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get out of there, He might stab you tonight!. No for real, anti-depression medication just gives the person such a level of comfort that they feel they have to have it, and the depression symtoms actually get worse!. Let him cry it out, and tell him never to take that medicine again! He will be better off then!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

contact the labor commission regarding his paycheck, they will walk you through this step by step!. as far as the meds, try walgreens, albertsons or walmart!. they usually have a program, for like $20 or $12!.99 once a year where your meds are crazy cheap!. also go to a social services or social program that can assist you two!. go to the hospital, etc!. Good luck and God bless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Greetings fellow Canadian:
Get hold of the Ministry of Social Services in your city!. Explain the situation and you should get a drug card right away which will entitle him to get his prescription filled!. If you are really in dire straits with money, apply for Welfare!.
Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to the website of the company that makes his meds!. They will most likely send it to him for free after his paperwork has been processed!. However that does take time!. But for the future really do look into it!. For right now see if there is a low income clinic that offers patient assistance!. If I knew where you were located I could help more!. Some cities have clinics, etc!. for homeless/very low income people!. Good luck to you!. Tell him to hang in there and be as supportive as you can!. If he is taking an SSRI (class of meds) those are VERY yucky to go off of; awful with drawl symptoms as well as having your head in a bad place!. You guys will get through this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
