Smoking Help Please?!

Question: Smoking Help Please!?
Has anyone got any tips for me to make my mum quit smoking!?

I've tried giving her leaflets, tried to get her to use patches, in all fairness she doesn't smoke AS much, but smoking is still smoking and after losing my dad i don't want to lose her too!.

Please someone give me a way to make her stop!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi
I don't know how old your mum is but maybe if you let her read my experience as a 42 year old who has given up for 10 days now it might help!. I won't go on about the long term health benefits as I'm sure she knows these already but here's some positive stuff:
With 3 to 4 days I found I could breathe more easily!.
I stopped coughing up phlegm on the 2nd day!.
In about 4-5 days I saw a dramatic improvement in my skin tone, my face looks more radiant and glowing!.
By the beginning of the second week my hair looks shinier and thicker, my finger nails are getting stronger, all the little fine lines around my mouth are disappearing!.
I'm loving my home (and myself) smelling fresh!.
I haven't put on any weight in fact think I've lost a little as I have more energy and am more active!.
I am quite honestly amazed at the practically instant benefits!. I smoked 25-30 a day for over 20 years and thought it would take forever to feel any better!.
I'm using the 24 hour patches which I get on the NHS quit scheme and haven't had bad cravings at all!.
Good luck to you and to your mum if she decides to go for it!. xxWww@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry kid you cannot make your mum stop
As a smoker myself and trying to give it up on many occasions ,I've been to cessation classes used patches, tabs etc,and still trying to give it up
Your mum has to WANT to give up smoking before she will even attempt it and no amount of outside pressure will MAKE her stop!. All you can do is keep talking to her (but don`t nag constantly )explaining your reasons for wanting her to stop, she then may eventually come round and try to stop

Stoping smoking isnt easy, some people it will take a lot of tries to quit completely!. she should only quit if she wants to quit, that way she will have more will power to actually quit!. she should set a date, and slowly cut down and on that date stop smoking, try her on the lower power patches (but it would be better without as they dont get you off the nicotine addiction, only the habbit of lighting up)Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can give her as much as advises you want, but the decision is up to her!.!.!.!.talk to her heart to heart or better write to her and burst in all what you want, all your fears!.!.!.but don't fight, the more you tell her to stop the more she will not!.!.!.!.when she is at home try to invite her do things that will take out her attention on taking her cigarette!.!.!.be positive and more don't teach her she is your motherWww@Answer-Health@Com

well shes not gonna quit unless she truly wants to, i smoke, and if my kid started handing me stuff, it wouldnt make me stop, u should give her a pack of newports, if shes gonna smoke, mine as well be something goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

tell her that you'll kill yourself if she doesn't stop because you can't handle the emotional stressWww@Answer-Health@Com
