Answers:
Yes to the first question!.Yes to the second question!.

One of the major building blocks of the brain, the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is critical for optimal brain health and function at all ages of life!.It is a very important part of our brain and body without which our brain and body cannot function normally!.Omega 3 deficiency causes most if not all human diseases!.Stress and depression for example!.Even low intelligence is a consequence of omega 3 deficiency!.The less DHA you have in your brain cell membranes or walls the lower your intelligence will be because the nerve impulses will take a longer time to pass from one brain cell to another due to the substitute fatty acid called DPA[that is used when there is not enough DHA] that is much less flexible then DHA thus slowing down the transfer of electrical impulses in your brain!.30% of your brain is made of omega 3 fatty acids making it a very important part of your brain!.DHA[and EPA] is concentrated in the eye photo receptors and in all of the cell membranes in your brain and body!.In cell walls they enable faster exchange of waste and nutrients!.Deficiency of omega 3 in the cell wall causes slow exchange of nutrients and waste causing many diseases as the waste cannot exit the cells and the nutrients cannot enter the cell if the deficiency is great eventually causing cell death !.The best plant source of omega 3 is flaxseed which contains only ALA omega 3 fatty acid which a healthy body[specifically containing sufficient amount of C,B2,B3 vitamins and minerals zink and magnesium] converts to more important fatty acids DHA and EPA!.The best animal source of omega 3 is tuna fish which i do not prefer since it is a endangered species like so many others due to excessive hunting!.In few months omega 3 fatty acids can cure stress, depression and many other mental and physical diseases!.They increase your intelligence[indefinitely depending on how much and how long you consume them!.Daily intake is highly recommended],reflexes, improve sight, improve joint flexibility[from personal experience] and many other known and unknown benefits!.Mankind has only just begun to realize how important these fatty acids are!.Sadly most people live in a delusion believing that only pharmaceutical drugs can cure their diseases!.The only long term cure for all of human diseases will come from the restoration of the energetic balance of our brain and body!.In other words changing our diet to a more omega 3 enriched one!.As long as there is omega 3 deficiency in our brain and body the diseases will never disappear permanently!.They will always return because the balance has not been restored!.

Important thing to mention is that too much of anything can kill you!.Even too much omega 3!.It is very important that your diet contains BOTH omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids in perfect or aproximate balance!.

The current dietary n-6/n-3 ratio ranges from about 10:1 to 25:1, indicating that typical North American and Western diets are low in omega-3 fatty acids compared with the Paleolithic diet on which humans evolved!.3 Health Canada recommends a ratio of 4:1 to 10:1, particularly for pregnant and lactating women and infants!.6 The FAO/WHO joint committee recommends a ratio of between 5:1 and 10:1 and advises individuals consuming diets with a higher ratio, to consume more foods containing omega-3 fatty acids such as green leafy vegetables, legumes and fish and other seafood!.7 The U!.S!. Food and Nutrition Board has not specified a dietary recommendation for the n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio!.4Www@Answer-Health@Com

DHA is dacoshexaenioc acid!. It is an omega 3 fatty acid which you find in fish and plants like olives and garlic!. The brain is made up of mostly billions of nerve cells myelated by fatty substance!. It is believed that these fatty acids help protect these cells by providing back up for nerve cells which are becoming unmyelinated!. There is a great link which will explain in detail, and list all the benefits!. Stay safe and be healthy!
