You can still have an open casket funeral, though sometimes the reason someone can be an organ donor is because they are brain dead, and this is sometimes cause because of trauma to the head, so it's sometimes not preferable to have an open casket funeral in those situations!.

Please stop beating up on the nurse just because she doesn't know about organ donation - it's a specialty like any other, and just because she has a nursing degree doesn't mean she's had experience with organ donation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you can, however the organ procurement agencies fail to mention that swelling to due the immense tissue damage is almost inevitable, even for the best embalmer!. I think the donation program is wonderful, however I do not think it is informed consent!. Many people agree to tisse donation, which means they remove all of the skin from your back, legs and buttocks (they use a scalpel and cut down to the muscle, then filet away the fat and muscle), they make incisions that go from your shoulder to your wrist and from your hip bone to you ankle!. The long bones are then replaced with PVC pipe!. The end result of donation is not a pretty one!. I am not trying to discourage anyone from donation, just trying to inform people of the actual process!. Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hmmmm i dont see why not!. it all depends really on what organs they take eg eyes, but wearing clothes and the magic the funeral people do to make you look really pretty and peaceful should improve your chances with the open casket!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
