You may have iron deficient anemia, but it's not because you are a vegetarian!. It's also not fatal, although it is determintal to your health!. If you actually got to the point you were passing out and dizzy from it, you'd either get iron injections or a transfusion of packed red cells, and then iron supplements!. Although the iron in plants is not as readily abosorbed by the body as that from meat, that's still no excuse to be anemic!. You can get iron quite well from veggies and fruits!. Dried beans and dried fruit happen to be excellent sources of iron, as are the leafy green veggies!. Depending on how strict a vegetarian diet you follow, you can also get your iron from eggs and fish!. And while folks will assume they aren't getting enough iron, a good bit of the time what they really aren't getting are enough of the B complex vitamins which allow the body to use the iron it already has or gets!. You get the B complex vitamins from whole grains, and in addition to eating more iron, you should also eat more whole grain foods!. Breakfast cereal is also usually fortified with both, and there are cereals out there that will provide 100% of most of your daily needs!. It also probably wouldn't hurt, considering your age- to add a chewable multivitamin/mineral supplement to the daily routine!. They don't have to be expensive kinds either, a childrens chewable found in the grocery store will fit the bill nicely!. You are still doing some very rapid growth, and being female, you will lose some iron every month due to your cycle!. It's also rather difficult for women to meet their nutritional requirements and not overeat, so a daily vitamin is sensible!. Anemia isn't fatal, but it does interfere with your growth at this point, so it is something worth taking care of!. You don't have to eat meat, but you do have to eat well, and be thoughtful about your food choices!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your hemoglobin level is still fine!. Sufficient levels for an adult women: 12-16 gm/dl!. The norm is 14 but your personal level cannot be compromised to a universal standard!. The standard body temp is 98!.6 but we know that on a daily basis a person's may be safely higher or lower, just because everyone is different!. Mine is consistently between 99!.1-99!.5 and I am fine!. Your iron may be higher/lower on a daily basis based on menses, diet, stress, injury, etc!. If you feel weak or infirm then you may supplement your diet by a variety of means!. Otherwise (if you feel fine) you needn't worry about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sure it can be if you don't have enough iron!. I think you should eat meat until you're done growing so you grow into a healthy woman, then become vegitarian!. I know that may be hard!. If not, take vitamins with lots of iron in them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

iron is an essential part of your diet, being a vegetarian is unhealthy if you are still growing, iron is found in red meat, you should wait until you are older to make the decision to stop eating meatWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes sickle cell anemia is fatal, but if you see a doctor it can be helped, I doubt that you have anemia though!. I would still see a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
