Answers:
If you are actually alive and walking around and healthy then I do not believe that is a genuine result!!! The fact that you are being re-tested in a week suggests your doctor thinks this too - if your potassium was really 8!.0 then that would be a very serious situation and they would not wait a week to repeat it!.

When they measure your potassium, they first remove all the cells from the blood so only clear liquid is left!. But the cells are packed with potassium, so if the cells 'leak' then you get a falsely high result when they analyse the liquid!.

Some reasons that cells leak are:
1) The person taking the sample used a bad technique and burst lots of cells!.
2) The sample was left for a long time (e!.g!. 24 hours) before being processed!.
3) There is a very high level of white blood cells or platelets!.
4) The sample got too cold before it was processed (e!.g!. if it was transported to the lab in a vehicle that got very cold, or if someone put it in the fridge for a while)
5) People can just have fragile blood cells!.

If your doctor seems puzzled, tell him/her to try taking "paired serum and plasma samples" to compare the results!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are many; I will name the top few!. Some of the words you will not know the meaning; just look them up in an online medical dictionary:
Ineffective elimination from the body/Excessive release from cells/Excessive intake/Lethal injection/Pseudohyperkalemia/Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not sure, but I seriously doubt it's from eating too much of it!.

It's probably a reaction in your liver to some other source!.
No way to know until the tests all come in!.

Do you work around, or with chemicals!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
