What do I do.. I'm a cutter?!


Question: What do I do!.!. I'm a cutter!?
I'm a long time cutter, I quit for awhile but I started again recently!. Its not as bad as it used to be!. Thats mostly because my other half and I have agreed that I wouldn't cut on my wrists or while I was alone in the house!. I still go off and do my cutting alone but this way theres kind of a safe guard against me going too deep and bleeding out!. I'm under a lot of stress, our finances are bad, and I went to the hospital yesterday for blood tests!. I've lost over 100lbs in under a year with no explination!. The doctor says I may have Cancer or HIV and because of the way i've abused my body either is possible!. I start therapy again tommorrow but right now i'm alone and want to cut I dont know what to do!. I'm 31, female, and I dont know what else to say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People who have never been a self-harmer can easily say, 'don't do it!.' They just do not know how hard it is to just not do it!. You feel like you are drowning!. Like you are just under the surface and cannot reach the top!. You feel like a baby bird that has fallen out of the nest whose cries of help goes unheard by its mother!. You feel like you are in a deep hole that is lined with barbed wire making the climb out difficult!.

I know it is difficult to stop!. I only stopped 4 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days ago!. Before I started again the last time I had gone eight months!. I had even gone six years at one time!. It is an everyday battle!. There are days that I still feel the urge!. There are days that I see things and imagine them as tools!. I know that you probably have similar feelings!.

I started keeping a journal about my thoughts!. I record the date and time of each thought!. I write down my thoughts, feelings, consequences, and why I felt that way!. I also keep notes about things that bother me or make me think!. There are scenes in Memoirs of a Geisha and 28 Days (the one with Sandra Bullock) that really got to me!. I also wrote down part of the script from Shrek and Pretty Woman!. There is a part where Shrek and Donkey are taking (in the first one) where Donkey accuses Shrek of blocking people out!. In Pretty Woman, Vivian's character says that it is easier to believe the bad stuff people say about you!. I also clip out comic strips and put all my fortune cookie fortunes in there!. The outside is decorated with colorful stickers!. It has to have some brightness to it!.

Some of the other things that have helped me is to use those rubber band bracelets!. I snap them against my wrist when I feel the urge!. Trust me if you pull on it hard enough, you will get a pretty good pop!. The best one that I have used is a red marker!. I use it instead of something that cuts!. I make marks everywhere!. You can use the washable kind!. I like to use the scented kind!. The scent helps to calm me down!. I also will draw pictures or write words!. The words are not always nice words, but as my counselor said, "It is better to write bad words than to do bad things!."

I am 36 and I have been battling this for 29 years!. It is not easy, but it does sound like you have good support with your other half!. There are also online support groups where you can talk to other people like us!.

I'm not a cutter, but I have read up on the subject!. What I remember reading is that people who cut often feel they don't have anyone to talk to!. I think learning how to express the stress you feel inside can help!. I've read that cutting does give an endorphin release, and does give a sense of relief of stress!. You could try learning other ways to relieve stress such as meditation and breathing exercises!. But most important, reach out to those you trust and express your fears and stress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i used to cut, so i know why you do it!. but something that helped me was to ease my self off it, i got rid of mose sharp things that i could use and i put rubber bands around my wrist and when i felt the need to cut i would just snap the band and it would help because you get the same sensation and its better then losing all the blood, and after a while you tend to forget about the bands and forget about your need to cut!. hope this helps!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't do it!. There are more important things in life!. Focus on the people you love and who love you!. I know people that cut and its hard to see their scars!. Just know that despite all your pain you have people in your life who care deeply for you!. Do everything you can to help yourself for them AND for you!. I know you probably wanted advice from a cutter and I know I will never understand your pain!. But people like me want to help!.
