6,000 mg Omega 3 too much?!


Question: 6,000 mg Omega 3 too much!?
I'm on a health program(called "the road back") and it calls for 6,000 mg of fish oil a day!. That seems like way too much! Can that much be bad for you(me)!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Short term (2-3 months) high dose like that should be safe!.!.!.but I would do it for an extended period of time at that level!. Don't use cod liver oil in those dosages as the vit!. D levels could become toxic!.

You need to find out what the mdr is, and it is best to get it from natural sourses!.!.!. walnuts, ground flax seed, salmon!. There is indeed such a thing as too much of a good thing!. And actually people dealing with diets and megadoses haven't really studied some of these!.!.!.!. no money in it!. Too much water will kill you!.

Loading up in phases like that is fine!. Just make sure you take fish oil from a trusted source!. I've heard some horror stories about mercury poisoning from poor quality fish oil!. Make sure you do your research and ask your doctor about brands!.
