Is my cholesterol really that high?!


Question: Is my cholesterol really that high!?
I had some blood work done back in January and my doctor said the only thing that showed up was my cholesterol total was at 247!. I'm 23 years old, 5'4" and I weigh 112 pounds!. I admit I eat junk food and home made baked goods sometimes but I also exercise a few times a week!. My father also has somewhat high cholesterol, so I know I inherit it from him!. But is 247 that bad!? Does it pose any health problems at this time!?

(I am trying to manage it and watch what I eat but I lose weight extremely easily so sometimes I just have to eat all the junk that I do if I want people to stop calling me anorexic!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is high but cholesterol is just one factor in heart disease, strokes, etc!. As long as you are not overweight, you are young, your blood pressure is fine, etc you are ok!. Heredity is hard to overcome!. I doubt changing your eating habits will do much good!. When you get older, if you have more risk factors then they will probably put you on meds to lower it!.
I am 5'4, 115lbs and 32 years old!. My cholesterol is 220!. My Dad has high cholesterol and so did his Dad!. My dad, at 58, juusr got on meds a few years back because he excercised like mad and ate really healthy and it didn't improve!. Don't worry about it, wait 30 years and re-evaluate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your cholesterol in the blood test should be less than 130 mg/dl!. Cholesterol between130--159 mg/dl is supposed to be on the boundry; and cholesterol 160 mg/dl and above is high!.So yours is very very high!.
1/Don't eat junk food!.
2/Avoid red meat!.
3/Include fibre in your diet!.
4/Use olive oil for cooking but do not heat the oil more than 40 degrees centigradeWww@Answer-Health@Com
