Question: Help! My friend needs an excuse!!?
My friend recently missed out on an important party at work, he totally forgot he was supposed to be there and used the fact that he'd had a bad stomach earlier in the week to say that he needed an endoscopy (camera in the stomach) to see what was wrong!.
Would my friend have needed to be knocked out for the procedure!?
What illness could he say he ended up having that would sound plausable!?

endoscopies arent fun - sometimes they knock you out - sometimes not - if he had some biopsies done they can cause discomfort - he could say that it was still tender and he didnt want to bring a downer on the night for everyone by not joining in fully so stayed away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
yes i would think its the same as a coloscopy - i mean having a camera in the stomach ort colon i would think you should be asleep!.

I just had the procedure done 3 weeks ago and they DON'T put you out!.!.!.they go right through the (blind spot) and feed the camera up into the intestines with the camera and then pull it out and feed it back in several times until they get all the visuals they need!.!.!.!.Trust me, it's not pleasant when they get to the "S" curve in the lower intestines!. They were checking for internal bleeding that I've had off and on!.!.!.lookin for ulcers or internal hemmorhoids!. Wish I wasn't answering this now!.!.!.!.bad memories!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont he should or should have lied, its so ignorant but you could tell him to say hes resting which isnt really a lie i mean he is kind of resting, your friend could say it was a false alarm and he went to double check , i dont think you need to be knocked out either , of course they will think hes a hypo if he uses that excuse but its better then them finding out he lied xxxxWww@Answer-Health@Com
Yes!!.!.!. No bout a doubt it!.!.!. You are most definitely put to sleep!. Some peoples' gag reflex is so strong, they would be pukin' up a storm!.!.with something going down their throat!. Let alone all the way down past their stomach anus!. I remember this to vividly!. I woke up during the procedure!.!.!.and they gave me more gotosleep meds!.!.!.it didn't work!.!.I was awake and remembered it all!. They were to worried to give me more!.!.so he cut the process short, and just went went the pics they had of my upper esophagus and said yeah!.!.!. you have to treated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
No need to go all into detail!. No one at his work will want to hear all that!. Gross!. Also it looks more like a lie when you ad elaborate details!. Just embellish on what he already said!. Went to doctor to have stomach looked at!. Found nothing, said it was stress!. If they ask questions, he can just say it wasn't';t a pleasant experience and they gave him a local so he really is fuzzy about some of it!. Next time, just be honest or just say something came up, but being honest is better then anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

However, endoscopy is the type of procedure that is done after a few weeks or months rather than days!.

Some people are knocked out (strong sedative, but not necessarily an actual general anaesthetic), some choose the option of staying conscious, but having a throat spray to make it easier!.
Personally I've always opted for the sedation (it's the 'good drugs' :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
