Question: I have to get a MRI and i am relly scared idk what to do !!!?
i have been having headaches since the beg!. of last year and now i need to have a mri done of my brain!. I am realy claustrophobic and have to stay in the mri tube for like 30 min!. They doc!. is going to give me some medicine to make me kinda unaware but i am still freaking out!. I am only 13 and i am so scared somthing is wrong with my brain bc of the headaches can someone please tell me what they do in a mri and anything to make me fell calmerWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had an MRI of my brain!. They put earplugs on my ears!. Ask if you can keep your arms up instead of down!. It gives you a better feeling of being able to get out!. They also might offer you music to listen to!. Ask for it!. It is helpful to keep your eyes closed and imagine you are taking a nice restful nap!. Think of good calm things, like the beach, someone you love, your pet, your special moments in life and do not think of the MRI or look at it!. Have a plan for something special when you are done, like a banana split!? or getting your nails done!? or something really nice!? Remember, they can hear you and talk to you while you are in there!. And they can see you!. You are not alone!.
Really, it is NOT so bad! Just think, when it is over you will most likely find out all is FINE! Most MRI's are NORMAL!. Hang in there, be tough, think of good things!. It is NOT horrible, just annoying!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You do nothing you just lie there and listen to music!. At
my local hospital you get a choice of what you can listen to!. The meds will make you relaxed and sleepy!. There is no
pain nothing to do no one with touch you the machine just moves over you and 'photographs' you!. It is very easy and
painless!. As for something being wrong with you brain I doubt it very much!. I think that if there was something seriously wrong you would have other symptomes like
vision problems!. balance problems, seizures etc and you
have only said you have headaches!. I suspect that your
doctor is doing the MRI out of 'an abundance of caution' which means he is covering all his bases to make sure that there is nothing bad happening!. That is why doctors do tests to make sure that they have looked at the problem from every angle!. Lots and lots of people have headaches and never
find out the reason why!. Sometimes it could stress, anxiety,
needs glasses, maybe it runs in your family!. Do other members of your family have headaches!? Just be glad your doctor is being so careful about investigating everything!.

They may give you an injection to create contrast in the picture but other than that you just lay on a table and listen to the machine!.
It won't bother you a bit!. It's like laying down and having someone pass a light over your skin!. Totally painless and if you don't see the light you won't even know it's there!.
If you're claustrophobic the doc will give you a tranquilizer so you will relax!.

It's small and very noisy!. Sometimes they put a helmet on - my wife says they call it the "Darth Vader Helmet" sometimes!.
Other than that, you just lay there and wait!.
They can give you a "panic button" to press if you freak out too much, and they can stop in between tests for a short rest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
