i have been on a high dose of oxycontin for a series of diseases i have for about 6 years now!. i know i am addicted but to battle chronic pain its a trade off!. if he is taking that much over his normal dose he is hooked and i doubt seriously if he can get off it himself, hes gonna need help!. i screwed up my pills once and ran out on a holiday weekend and its was the worst days of my life!. the withdrawls are horrible and can actually be life threatning so i would not take this problem lightly!. as far as taking it everyday i have too not only to control my pain but being on it for so long just to feel "normal", which im sure is why he is taking it, to avoid the withdrawls and to feel "normal"!. get him some help fast!.i just noticed he was taking it for his chronic pain, im not sure what he has that is causing his back pain but he might still need it but regardless he is obviously going over his prescribed amount , this is what alot of our problem is today is that people think because they have a prescription for a narcotic pain killer it makes it "allright" if you start taking more than prescribed because you think you need it, it still requies alot of responsibility to use it, prescription or not!. good luck i hope it works out for youWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have to agree about getting help, especially rehab!. I was addicted to Vicodin, took a lot past the dosage!. I went to rehab, which is better because they have certain types of meds for withdrawal!. It has to be HIS decision to get help, just be there to help him through it and support him!. Don't enable him by getting him more meds!. Just sit him down and say that you are concerned and want him to get help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You know!. He's gonna have to get help!. I just lost a cousin to that!. He was way over the dosage and died in his sleep!. You dont know the pain we as a family is going through!. Just stay on him! Help him as much as you possibly can!. He's got to go to rehab or something!. Dont feel like he can do it hisself cause he cant! please help him for its to late! My cousin didnt have real friends and they didnt get him help!. may he RIP now!. but do all you can to save your friend!. Im very serious!. I wish you luck!. Its going to be hard, but he needs to check in somewhere and be "winged off" of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
