Do the "diseases" of anorexia and bulimia show up in poor countries?!

Question: Do the "diseases" of anorexia and bulimia show up in poor countries!?
The late, great George Carlin had a great riff a long time ago about anorexia and bulimia being American social phenomenons and not diseases!. I think that's a great point, somehow I don't think any Ethiopian people are suffering from these "diseases"!. What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
you're right!.!. eating disorders are not diseases and i'm sure they don't show up in poor countries because they don't have any food and they live like dogs!.!. they are not at all concerned about their appearances, all they care about is their next meal!. it's really sadWww@Answer-Health@Com

Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia are psychological diseases!. The reason why they are considered American is because we have a social image to protect, or at least we used to!. When someone believes that they are over weight they may induce vomiting or taking laxatives!. Not having anything to eat in poorer countries and inducing weight loss in extreme measures are different!. So I agree, anorexia and bulimia are not the case in poorer countries; such as, Ethiopia and other third-world countries!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually there is a heavy outburst of eating disorders in poor eastern European cultures!. they are constantly bombarded with american Television and culture and obviously what comes with that is the message "you have to look like this to have a good life and find a mate"!.
