Question: Is an ICU watch necessary to prevent euthanasia for uninsured loved ones!?
In the US, if you have an uninsured loved one in intensive care, should somebody (family, friend) always be present to make sure the hospital staff doesn't euthanize the person or withhold CPR (due to financial issues)!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

No one would kill a patient b/c they don't have insurance! The nurses who care for the patient don't get paid from the insurance, they get paid by the hospital, and they wouldn't risk their jobs for that!.
I would, however, make sure that you are very clear with everyone that you want all possible life-saving measures done for your loved one, b/c sometimes a DNR (do not resuscitate) order is written by the doctors if they feel the person is on their way out anyway and that CPR wouldn't help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In the US, it doesn't matter if someone is uninsured, the hospital can't legally deny life-saving medical treatment (other than massive operations like transplants) regardless of the person's financial situation!.
Hospitals aren't like dog pounds, and they're not going to "euthanize" anyone just because they don't have insurance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is not a practice that is legal in any state!. WE, nurses have worked very hard to get and keep our licenses!. Please make sure that your wishes for your family member is made known to the physician and the staff!. No one has the right to take a life due to finances or for any reason as a matter of fact!. If you think this may be a factor in your family members care, please talk to someone at that facility, like a social worker, administrative staff member or a clergyman!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
