It means the amt of time the drug is legally allowed to be on a shelf in a store for sale!. All drugs have an expiration date on them!. The shelf life of the drug is usually a year before the expiration date!.
The reason being is the drug- the potency might not there!. However some drugs are still considered good a year after expiration date by the drug companies!. But can only be sold on the shelf x amt time!. Doesn't mean you have to throw out your meds after expiration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its the length of time given before it is considered unsuitable for sale or consumption!.Equivalent to 'best before', 'use by'!. Its related to safety rather than quality, expiration is quality!. So if a drug passes it's shelf life, it might still be safe but its quality is not guaranteed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
