Those kind of panic attacks are not what typical worrying is!.!.!. you may have an underlying anxiety disorder and this is bringing it out!. If you are anxious or have anxiety about other issues, maybe not to this extent though but have considered this, then you'll know!. Anxiety is not uncommon and there's medication and therapy that can help so perhaps you can speak with your own doctor about this!. At the least maybe they will prescribe you a mild tranquilizer until the surgery is over and you can do further assessment on your anxiety!.

Try to remember when you're having an attack that it WILL BE OVER soon!. I know it's hard to believe this during an attack, but keep doing so and distract yourself from the situation!. (write a note to yourself to reassure you that it won't last forever and keep it handy, then pull it out if you find yourself in a situation!.)

If you believe in a higher power you might try putting it into his/her/its hands too!.!.!. Might bring some peace!.

Best wishes!.!.!. (and get his surgery done and over with so you don't have to suffer over this longer than necessary!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey there,
A panic attack is perfectly normal in your situation!. Obviously it's not healthy, and it shouldn't happen, but it's normal for it to happen!.
Right now you are clearly and understandably very stressed out!. However, keep in mind, and this is important, that your son knows how you feel!. Your son, whether he is awake or not, feels your mood, so when you are nervous around him, he will become nervous!.
If he is having the surgery, it is clearly important, and you absolutely should not postpone it!. Just remember that right now, you are the most important person in the world, and your most important task right now is to make him feel the best he can possibly be!.
The panic attack may recur!. If it does, take slow, deep breaths, and count slowly to the highest number you can, and count each breath slowly!. And keep in mind, as your son's mother, you are there to support him!.
The risks of surgery will not change between now and later, and at 6, children tend to recover pretty well!. Don't postpone, you'll be as nervous later as you are now - it's normal!.
But be there for him!. You are the most important human being in the world to him right now, keep that in mind :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

of course it is normal to have a panic attack before your sons surgery!. surgery is very stressful and indeed there are things to worry about!. but on the other hand surgical techniques have made huge advances even in just the last few years!. they will be able to monitor his brain waves, pulse and breathing along with everything else that WILL keep him SAFE!! i have had dozens of surgeries since i was 13 years old and i have NEVER had any problems at all!. i think if you set back his surgical date you may find yourself even more stressed out and you may keep putting it off!. i will say a prayer for you and your son!. i am certain he will be just fine!. trust in the dr!.'s and the surgical staff and i think you ought to call and speak to your sons surgeon and let her/him know about your worries!. they would most likely allow you to see the OR and show you the machines and how they work to keep him safe!. i wish i could take your worries away and i hope this helps!. have faith and or listen to your heart and try not to over think the process!. i'm serious, after dozens of surgeries myself you would think my chances for something to go wrong would but nope i've always been quite safe!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I experienced my first real panic attack about two years ago due to a hormone problem,it was horrible!! You sound like any worried mom,you just need to remember that your son needs you,and he will be fine!.Pray for him and trust GOD-he will take care of your little boy!.I would suggest that every time you think of the operation to take deep breaths, and remind yourself that he will be OK-just kind of chant it in your mind as you breathe in and out-he will be fine-GOD is with us,something like that!.I hope everything works out-GOD-bless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OMG - I would be the same way!. I think you shouldn't post-pone the surgery because this will make the anticipation much worse!. Also, maybe ask your doctor for some Ativan (lorazepam) to help with the anticipatory anxiety - just don't drive on it - it can make you a little sleepy!. Good luck!! And it's so normal for a mom to worry like this & panic -it's your baby!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No it is not normal to have panic attacks!.!.!.but it is more common than you think!. To ease your mind!.!.!.ask your sons doctor any question you may have about the surgery!. Ask about the risks or if there is an alternative to surgery!. Talk to someone you are close to in depth about how you are feeling!. Expressing your emotions about the problem that triggers your panic attack is the best thing!.!.!.good luck!.!.!.and I will keep your son in my prayers!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
