Question: I want to enter the medical field but [Specialty Problems]!?
I want to enter the medical field, but I have a very adept interest in psychology!. Although I don't want to be a psychiatrist or psychologist, I still would like this to be a part of my occupation!. I don't want to be a surgeon, because that's not usually on a personal level with patients (as far as I know) but I don't really want to be a family doctor sort of thing, cause I think that would probably get boring after a while!.
My question is, what sort of specialty could I go into, where I still have the personal portion with the patients, but my job is more high speed sort of thing!.
I also wanted to know how personal an ER doctor gets with patients!. And (since I've never been in the ER for a long time) if your in the ER for a while, if the same doctor checks in on you, or if the doctor changes!.!.!.!.!.
And please don't suggest nursing, I've learned a lot about that portion of the medical career and I really don't think I would like it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you would enjoy being a paramedic!. I've been an EMT since I was 16 and just finished a 2 year program to get my Paramedic license!. There is nothing else as fast paced as running in a 911 system and as you are the perceived "hero" to some patients you get to experience a lot of the mental effects of emergencies!. Plus, you run a wide variety of calls and no two emergencies are the same!. ER docs don't get to spend a lot of time with the patients unfortunately and its only getting worse with the majority of the population being elderly and thereby increasing the amount of ER visits!. I don't know where you live but go up to your local fire department and just ask to talk to someone about a career!. Better yet, join a volunteer fire company they will pay for you to take EMT and firefighting classes and you will get an insane bond with the people you ride with!. You probably wouldn't like being an emergency room doctor because they just treat the patient on an emergency basis and will probably never see that person again!.
A surgeon would be a better option since you would operate on the patient, take care of the patient in the hospital and then make sure the patient is doing okay after surgery!.
Your best bet would be Internal Medicine or Family Practice!. I don't think you'd get bored with either one since every day will be full of challenges!. You will get to know your patients on a more personal level!. In family practice!.!.!.you may even take care of the whole family!.
