hi, i just got my tonsils removed 6 days ago! i needed them out because i got tonsilitious about 6 times a year!.!.i did not want them out but i had to!. IF you get sick a lot then you should because the doctor said continuious infections can lead to your brain and heart, so you should!. The pain!? I'll tell you the truth!.!.it is by far the worst thing i have ever been through!. I only been eating popsicles and chicken broth soup!. I wake up every 3 hours in the middle of the night crying because of the pain!. The medicine helps but taking it hurts!. Im on codeine and it burns going down but it does help after about 15 mins!. The actual surgery is nothing it goes by so fast!. But its been almost a week and i feeel no signs of improvement yet!. They say about 10 days i should be okay!.!.!.i'll let you know if it was worth it in the end!.!.!.!.good luck with your decision!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I had my tonsils removed last year because I got strep throat 4 times in a month and a half!. Yes, it is very painful when you wake up from the sergery but you get to eat lots of icecream and popsicles :) Also they put you on pain medication to try and control the pain!. i got surgery to get my tonsils removed wen i was only 8 yrs old! its not painful becuz u wont feel it!. wen they r performing the surgery, u r going to be asleep cuz they give u a gas called anesthesia, so u wont feel anything!. wen u wake up, it will be over! and for about a week or two, ur throat will be a little sore and wen u swallow, its gonna b a bit painful, but only like a sore throat, nothing seriously extremely painful, its fine!. and u cant eat anything but ice cream and frozen stuff! dont worry about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It is painful if they try to remove them without anesthesia which i doubt they will because you would very likely scream your head off making it almost impossible to perform the procedure!.
They use a sleeping gas to put you to sleep so you will not feel a thing!.After the procedure is done they will bring you to your hospital room and place you in bed!.

i had my tonsils taken out and they put you out for the surgery!. When i worke up i was really disoriented and my throat hurt so bad it was like you couldn't swallow!. It hurt so much!. i didn't go to school for weeks
The hardest part was not being able to eat real food!. It was always ice cream or yogurt or italian ices and it gets really boring!. IT hurt so i wouldn't eat or drink and i had to go to the hosital for dehydration!.
12 days after my surgery i woke up and had this weird tast in my mouth!. I got up and spit in the sink and it was blood! my stiches popped and it keep bleeding!. One night i couldn't fall asleep!. All of a sudden i felt like i was going to puke so (this is really gross) i ran to the bathroom but didnt make it and threw up in the hallway!. It was dark so i couldn't see well but it was like brown looking!. i turned on the lights and there was blood ALL over the floor mixed with food!.
my mom put me back to bed and called the doctor in the morning!. The nurse said you need to be here in 5 minutes!. They had to do an emergency surgery on me!. They said i would have died if i hadsn't gotten there when i did and they kept me over night in the hospital!.
With every surgery there are precautions!. this is normaly a safe surgery but not for me!. My brother had it done and he was fine!. I had them taken out because they were to big and i was always geting sick!. After i got them out i never had strep throat again!. I am so much healthier and i barely get sick!. i have never gotten mine taken out but i heard it is very painful and the older you are the more it hurts!. like i said though, i still have mine!. = )Www@Answer-Health@Com
Taking out tonsils does not hurt during the operation but it hurts after!. Dont worry its not that painfulWww@Answer-Health@Com
it is one of the most painful things people can go through but you cant just want to take them out there has to be a reasonWww@Answer-Health@Com
