Nosebleed and lightheadedness?!
Question: Nosebleed and lightheadedness!?
i had a nosebleed a couple hours ago!. the nosebleed lasted maybe two minutes, and a long stringy bloody clotty snot string came out!. then it stopped!. now i have a headache and i feel slightly dizzy!. i can still stand up and function properly!. i've never had a nosebleed before!. should i be worried!?
i exercised yesterday for the first time in like a year and i've also been stressed out lately!. could that have caused it or do you think it was just a common nosebleed!? i know nosebleeds can really be for any reason or no reason at all, but i'm just seeking an outside opinion before i rush to the emergency room or something!. thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lack of sleep weakens the membranes in the nose, and elevated blood pressure, whether from stress or from activity, can trigger nosebleeds!.
As for the clotty snot string, that is a mixture of snot and blood, not an indicator of a problem by itself!.
Unless you have a nosebleed that you can't stop, the ER is not necessary!. I recommend rolling gauze (best) or tissue into a "tampon shape" and holding it in your nose!. If using tissue, roll so the loose ends are going into your nose--the increased surface area seems to make it clot faster!. (That's also why I've found that gauze is best!. My husband gets nosebleeds a lot!. My twin used to get them when we were little!. I think they are pretty common, but if you are getting a headache and are slightly dizzy, I think you should be examined!. Just to be on the safe side!. It doesn't hurt to be cautious!. A common cause of lightheadedness and nose bleed is dehydration!. Try drinking some water, see if you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
