What are the symptoms of food poisoning?!

Question: What are the symptoms of food poisoning!?
My partner and i went out Saturday night (just gone)!. He was feeling rather peckish and ordered a steak and mushroom sandwich (i'm so glad i ate before i went out)!.
Anyway, Sunday morning i awoke to him retching and hugging the toilet!.!.being very sick!. He was sweating quite a lot, said his stomach was feeling uneasy and he felt queasey!.
I said to him it was possible it could have been the steak!. Perhaps the person cooking it had not washed their hands properly (which makes me heave thinking about that)!. I had food poisoning as a kid and vaguely remember the sheer sickness i went through from eating a dodgy macdonalds burger at 10 years of age!. Hence why i don't eat 'fast food' anymore!.
My partner is still ill today, stomach cramps, diarrhea and the sweats!. Is there anything he can take for his stomach upset!? Or does he just have to sweat it out!? We're in the UK!. I know it's important he doesn't get dehydrated, is there anything he can take for this!? Apart from water!? Thank you!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Symptoms of food poisoning depend on the type of contaminant and the amount eaten!. The symptoms can develop rapidly, within 30 minutes, or slowly, worsening over days to weeks!. Most of the common contaminants cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping!. Usually food poisoning is not serious, and the illness runs its course in 24-48 hours!.

Do not eat solid food while nauseous or vomiting but drink plenty of fluids!.

Small, frequent sips of clear liquids (those you can see through) are the best way to stay hydrated!.

Avoid alcoholic, caffeinated, or sugary drinks!. Over-the-counter rehydration products made for children such as Pedialyte and Rehydralyte are expensive but good to use if available!.

Sports drinks such as Gatorade and Powerade are fine for adults if they are diluted with water because at full strength they contain too much sugar, which can worsen diarrhea!.

After successfully tolerating fluids, eating should begin slowly, when nausea and vomiting have stopped!. Plain foods that are easy on the stomach should be started in small amounts!. Consider eating rice, wheat, breads, potatoes, low-sugar cereals, lean meats, and chicken (not fried) to start!. Milk can be given safely, although some people may experience additional stomach upset due to lactose intolerance!.

Most food poisonings do not require the use of over-the-counter medicines to stop diarrhea, but they are generally safe if used as directed!. It is not recommended that these medications be given to children!. If there is a question or concern, you should always check with a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When i went to italy i got food poisening and it was the worst time of my life ever!!!
Basically it lasted 3 days and i could hardly eat anything cause i would just throw it up again!. I remember that it took about 9 hours for the symptoms to appear from the time i ate the food!. YOur stomach is constantly hurting becuase the muscles around it are continuously trying to rid the body of teh toxins!. Then the diarhea hit though this wasn't that bad it did keep me up all night!. I found that eating pieces (sml pieces) of fresh apple nothing too acidic, moderate amounts of water not too much liquid at once (or i wld throw it all up again) and also one or two boiled lollies which were primarily to stop me from fainting from decreased sugar levels!.

I no exactly wat he must be going through good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
