MED. PRO ONLY, PLEASE! MDMA (Ecstasy) + Perforated Bowel?!

Question: MED!. PRO ONLY, PLEASE! MDMA (Ecstasy) + Perforated Bowel!?
A friend of mine was recently (a week ago) hospitalized and had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel!. He has been taking Protonix since the surgery and still has 3 weeks to go!.

He is planning to turn over a new leaf and get healthier but he is considering taking Ecstasy one more time with his girl!.

I have read that Ecstasy can cause ulcers so I am concerned that taking it will cause his stomach problems to re-occur!.

PLEASE: Both I and he are FULLY aware that Ecstasy is an illegal drug, and are FULLY aware of all of the mental, physical, social and legal risks involved, so please spare me the "Mr!. Mackey" answers!. I don't need to hear that you think "Drugs are bad, Mm'kay!."

All I want to know is, does he have any increased risk of any kind of side effects from taking a normal dose (2 pills, average strength, 150 pound guy) compared to before this happened!? Specifically, is there a chance that he could re-perforate!? Also, any interactions with the Protonix!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
first of all, sorry about your friend!. that sounds like a pretty awful situation!.

yes, MDMA may result in ulcers, but not the ones you're thinking of!. mouth ulcers--canker sores--can occur since users often chew or nibble at the inside of their mouths!. however, no amount of ecstasy use will result in peptic ulcers--ulcers in the GI tract!. so he's safe on that account!.

both MDMA and protonix are broken down by the same protein group and by the same exact oxidase system!.

protonix is metabolized in minor extents by CYP3A4 and CYP2D6!. there's a strong correlation showing that MDMA will interact with substances metabolized by both of those genes!. MDMA actually inhibits CYP2D6 for up to a week or more, rendering protonix completely useless!. using both drugs may increase the toxicity of one or the other and it may inhibit the toxicity of one or the other!. that wouldn't exacerbate his stomach problems but it would be extremely harmful for his kidneys, liver, and neurochemical systems!.

the fact that there's a chance of adverse interaction is enough for me to be dissuaded!. tell your friend to wait until he's finished his protonix therapy!. it's just three weeks, right!? and hey, this way he can prepare for his experience and have the best trip ever!.

EDIT: ugh!. the guy asked for 'medical, pro only' answers, why do people feel it's necessary to go "UHH I DONT KNOW IF THEY WILL INTERACT BUT BLAH BLAH BLAH" when that's the opposite of what he's looking for!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

With Ecstasy, its impossible to know!. & thats with almost any drug!. I'm sure however, that the risks are increased!. Especially, since his body is weak and just came from the hospital!. It's possible he could re-perforate!. It's not something that can really be for certain!. Everyone's body is different and reacts to drugs differently so I wouldn't recommend it for him to do!. He just needs a clean break!.

Hope he gets clean soon!. It's horrible to see the people you care about addicted to it!. I saw my sister go through it and it wasn't pretty!. It changed my outlook on things dramatically!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, well!. I do not know if the the drug will have a bad reaction with Ecstasy!. With that being said, I would not advise him to take another dose of it!. It is what caused his problem to start with and that means his body is already "to its limit!."

So, IF he holds to his word and only does this one last dose, then he will most likely not perforate!. BUT if he is fresh out of the hospital, then he probably will!.

Again, he should not take it, but probably will anyways!.

Edit - He is right out of the hospital!. He should not be taking drugs with his medication!. If he wants to take one last dose, he should do so when he Isn't going o conflict with his treatment!.

Edit II - I never said he was!.!.!.

Edit 3 - To guys two posts down - Ok, so i didn't know the chemical make up of the drugs, but guess what!? I gave the exact answer you did!. So lay off me!Www@Answer-Health@Com
