Question: Why do I get a terrible case of motion sickness when I am a passenger, but not when I am the driver!?
Even for short trips, I get terribly nauseous when I am the passenger!. But I drive all the time, frequently for very long trips, and never get motion sick when I am the one driving!.

Why!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it has to do with your eyes!. When you drive you're focused on the road, the horizon!. You're looking and anticipating the next turn or whatever!. Your eyes communicate to your brain, who then communicates to your inner ear, who control your balance (hence your nausea), telling you to lean to the right or to anticipate a corner!.

When you're the passenger you're not focused on these things!. I've heard that if you focus on the horizon in front of you, it helps with the nausea!. Also if you read while in the passenger seat, don't allow the passing scenery be visible in your peripheral!. This can increase your nausea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Same thing happens to me!. It's the case with most people with motion sickness!. It's because you are anticipating the curves and controlling the motion of the car and also looking forward, while as a passenger, your body is having to react to motion created by someone else!.

I always drive on trips involving windy roads!. It's just easier on me!. If you can't drive, the front seat is usually better than the back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

all of the answers are very good
they are correct
there is an actual name for it - but I can't remember it
it has to do with motion sensitivity and my daughter has had it since she was little (now 19) is she is a passenger she can't read or do much!.!.!.but she can drive with no problem
samething on a treadmill she has trouble with that also
good luck,,,,,,,guess you get to drive all the timeWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's a control issue probably!. I'm the say way!.

When you're driving, you are controlling the movements and situations so your body and mind are already prepared for each motion!. But when you're riding, your body can't always predict the motions and becomes more nervous!.

Does that make sense!? That's my explanation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i guess u like to be in charge and in control of the wheelWww@Answer-Health@Com
