Bone Marrow biopsies?!

Question: Bone Marrow biopsies!?
I'd appreciate it if anyone who has had one could help me!. I work for a pathologist who performs these and I have to set up the appointments for them!. Every single patient who calls to schedule one is scared and asks me how bad it hurts!. Well, I've been told that it does hurt a lot but if anyone has ever had one, could you maybe compare it to something or tell me anything that might reassure these people (like it only hurts for a few minutes)!. I just always feel so bad for the people calling to schedule them and want to help their fear a little if I can or at least be honest with them as much as possible!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

they numb the area and administer pain medication as needed in most cases!. often people feel pressure more than actual pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There will be a sharp stinging from the anesthetic injection!. As the aspirate is withdrawn, there may be a brief, sharp pain!. The biopsy needle may also produce a brief pain, usually more dull!. Since the interior of the bone cannot be anesthetized, this test may cause some discomfort!. Not all patients experience these symptoms, however!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
