Question: What exactly does the ear wire do that deaf people put on their side!?Does it help them hear better!?
Answers:
Do you mean FM systems, hearing aids, or cochlears!?
(will edit question if you specify which one)

Hearing aids-

Some hearing aids are connected to a "mould" that is in their ear and fits their ear shape, by a small tube!. that's to keep the hearing aid ontop of their ear so that it doesnt fall off, and to transfer the sound from the hearing aid into the ear canal!.

Hearing aids are used by deaf people to amplify sounds around them and transferr it into their ear canal allowing them to hear!.

FM system-

Some hearing impaired people have an FM system which is where someone (usually a teacher in school) has a small pack they put in their pocket and its connected to a wire which goes up to a microphone that they connect to their shirt!. They speak into the microphone, the sound goes through the wire, into the pack where it is then converted into radio waves and travells through the air on a certain radio frequency into the hearing aids of the person they are talking to!. It amplifies the sound of their voice only for the hearing impaired person and makes it way easier to hear!.

Cochlear-

A cochlear is basically a hearing aid that is inside the person's head and is implanted during an operation!. Cochlears operate the same way that hearing aids do, except inside the person's head!. Cochlears usually have a small wire and a little "pack" like thing connected to the user's head where they can turn their hearing aids on or off whenever they wish!. They are more expensive than hearing aids, and are usually used for more profoundly deaf people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that the wire just helps support the actual hearing aid cos the hearing aid cant just stick to ur ear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
