My sister takes it and did put on lots of weight!. It did help her, but in regards weight she wanted to lose it and went for walks and went to the gym, these she feels helped her mood more than the pills but stays on them!. It is proven that exercises is great for your emotions even if it is not about weight, She attends an all women's group, not the expensive ones!. She loves talking to others who all have issues but they mainly stick to positive things as they move around the circuit!. She only pays for the use of the gym and not into the diet shakes stuff so is not too dear, When she started on the pills she felt a bit nauseous but all is good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on Effexor XR for the first half of last year!. Whenever I skipped a day I felt it!. I didn't gain weight, but I felt sluggish and tired all the time!. I had to wean myself off gradually or I was a zombie!.

I also noticed when I first got off of it that I was more prone to panic attacks, but everyone's body reacts differently!. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor about switching the med, and how to go about writing Rx's for a smaller amount next time to gradually come off!.

As for new meds, I've heard great things about Lexapro and Xanax (although my dad took Xanax and said it made him feel sluggish, so he had to half it)!. Klonopin is good for management of panic attacks- or was for me!.

Good luck!

Both I and another family member are on Efexor and have not had any weight gain that can be associated with the medication, but medications do effect people differently!. You really should consult your doctor about this rather than the uneducated masses such as myself!. Feel better:-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
