Where I come from, drinking cough syrup til you get messed up is called "Robo-tripping" in reference to Robitussin!.
I've never done it as I don't imagine myself to ever be a fan of tripping but some of my friends have!. I know for sure it's impossible to drink enough to get messed up without puking your guts out!. That's what I've heard from everyone who has done it!. That being said, the vomiting and "delirium" are definitely side effects!. Of course, delirium as they're describing it is the only reason people take excess amounts of the crap in the first place!.
Almost all drugs that get you messed up to the point where you will trip/hallucinate will probably do some pretty bad things to the rest of your body (think about acid)!. None of my friends have reported muscle spasms or accelerated heart beat but then again, they probably don't remember that part!.
Although I never thought people could actually get addicted to the crap, I did see an episode of Intervention where a guy was whoring himself out for money for DXM!.
Bottom line: not worth it!.
PS: One time a friend called me while Robo-tripping claiming that there was insects crawling on her bedroom walls!. Was probably the craziest phone call I've ever gotten!. And the next day, she had bruises all over her arms from where she'd been hitting the wall!.!.!. sounds like fun, huh!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
