Mold in basement- how to prevent problems?!

Question: Mold in basement- how to prevent problems!?
I'm tossing anything seriously green or red or orange with mold!. Will a dehumidifier help to prevent future growth!? The back room we use for storage and anything wooden or cardboard has grown a green splotchy mold!. We don't have leaks or anything!. Sometimes when it rains, we see water spots on the floor by the foundation!. We also rent!.

We're unsure what to do other than toss everything down there!. We have an infant and I"m concerned for our health!. The floors seem to look like there's a fine coating of mold on them also!. It's just pained concrete!.

Help us please!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok, here is what I did when my basement got moldy:

If possible, wash all exposed areas with a bleach solution!. If you have areas with plasterboard that are impregnated with mold, you may have to tear these out and replace them!. If you don't, the mold can and will come back!.

Yes, also use a dehumidifier, and keep it at a level where humidity is low!.

If you treat all the areas like this, you will probably be ok!. Unless some areas are hidden, obviously!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
