Yes my Father (83) had one and was hallucinating and hearing voices it also affected his balance!. He has dementia so still sometimes hears t he voices but then forgets very quickly so does not get upset by it!. hey say its best not to query them just to go along with her and try to keep them occupied, but a friends Dad totally recovered after the antibioticsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely! The elderly are more prone to lots of things that can cause confusion!. Water -- too much or too little -- can cause an imbalance in electrolytes leading to confusion!. Infection by bacterial or viral agents also can cause confusion!.

Senile dementia, which would not get much better, comes on slowly over time, and it's likely you would have noticed it!. If the doctors have ruled out a stroke (which it sounds like they have since you're asking about water and infection), then she should be back to herself once the infection is cured or the imbalances are corrected!.

Keep your chin up and try not to worry too much! : )Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes this is a very co mmon cause of confusion in the elderly, they dont tend to drink enough!. it can seem like dementia but disappears when the infection goes, they were constantly testing my mum when she first became confused to check it wasnt an infection then they diagnosed her with dementia!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

legionnaire's disease is a disease that thrives in water cooling systems and is very harmful to old folksWww@Answer-Health@Com
