Minor with a tattoo... doctor/patient confidentiality?!
Question: Minor with a tattoo!.!.!. doctor/patient confidentiality!?
I have a tattoo and my parents don't know!. I know I should tell the doctor next time I go but will he/she be required to tell my parents since it was illegal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont see why your tattoo would matter!. and no technically anything you tell your doc is between you and him/her!. unless you are dying or something like that they have to keep whatever you say to themselves!.
let me explain so you understand!. you deff should not have gotten a tattoo illegally but you did and thats over!. you dont have to tell your doc about it unless you think it's infected or was done with dirty needles!. which if you got it illegally it probably was!. i would have that checked!. so yes if you have a blood test more then likely they are gunna tell your folks!. but it is better to know!. as far as your confidentiality with your doc!. if there is nothing wrong with the tattoo why even tell him/her about it!. i have a tattoo i have never told my doc about!. hes never asked about that kind of stuff!. you have rights whether you believe it or not!. i know for a fact at my doc anything i said when i was younger was between me and him!. so if your doc is like mine you should be okay!. however like i said you should prob get a blood test just to be sure that you are safe!. yea your folks are gunna be mad but they would rather you be safe and healthy then sick!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your tattoo doesnt necessarily have anything to do with your health (unless you're worried that it was from an unsafe needle or it became infected/inflamed)!. I don't see why you'd have to tell your doctor; also, a patient accompanying a minor getting a tattoo is not illegal, your doctor could be under the assumption this happened!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I think your doc would have to tell them according to the HIPAA!. but I linked to a site that is entirely about what rights a minor has with a doctor and their own privacy!. I would check it out if i was you!.

Sorry the other person is wrong!.!.!.!.getting a tattoo as a minor in not only stupid but illegal!.
If your tat is infected or inflamed and is going to do you harm then because your a minor then i think the doctor has to tell your parents!.
