A Psychiatrist is the only one of the 3 who is allowed to prescribe medication!. The other 2 do talk therapy only!. I have been to all 3 at one time or another!. I prefer a Psychologist!. A Therapist rushes you through too quickly trying to get you better, but there are times you need to go slowly through certain things that have happened in your life!. A Psychologist goes as slowly as you need to go!. A Psychiatrist mostly gives you pills, asks how they are working and tells you when to come back, no talk therapy!. I go to a Psychologist every week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Both psychiatrists and psychologists are therapists!.

A psychiatrist has a medical degree and can prescribe medication; they are 'medical doctors!.'

A psychologist has a doctoral degree in psychology, but is not termed a 'medical doctor' and cannot prescribe meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
