if what you mean is tonsilitis, it could be strep, which requires antibiotics, there is nothing else you can do except take tylenol or advil, if it is something serious, and it very well can be, it will get worse, and if it is strep, it is possible for it to get into your blood and travel around your body, even into your spine, and kill you!. those who give me a thumbs down for this, I work in a hospital, I have seen it happen!. sure, it's not likely, but it can happen!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
You don't have to have tonsillitis just because your throat hurts!. There could be lots of other causes!.
Try lozenges, salt water gargles, and even antibiotics if you have them!.
If it persists for more than a few days, you SHOULD see a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would get a ZPAK!. I had a terrible sore throat took that antibiotic woke up the next day with NO sore throat after having one for quite sometime!. I Highly recommend it!. its only 3 pills one a day for 3 days clears that sucker right up =] Feel better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suffer every few months with tonsilitis!. If you can't get penicillin (try out of hours and say ur not reg) then my most effective thing is to gargle with soluable asprin then swallow it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I used to get tonsillitus several times a year, and apart from antibiotics i used solluble asprin - TESCO,s own 18 pence for 12 tablets!. gargle and swallow!.
