Ok, my husband just got over strep throat (over 2 weeks & 3 meds) on Tue, yesterday he woke up with dry blood on his mouth, shirt & pillow case and for the past few weeks he has been complaining of a metallic or rust taste in his mouth!. Could this be caused by the strep throat, meds (steriods) or could it be something totally different!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You may want to check out the link I provided - which has a LOT of info on various metallic taste symptons!. You do know that blood has IRON in it - this COULD be ONE reason there is such a taste, if his throat is bleeding it could be why!. But check info from people who know a LOT MORE than most anyone here!. The link also gives you info on what to ask/talk about with your doctor!.

Anytime there is a metal taste in your mouth it is from an infection!. The only other time you get a metal taste is when you are quitting smoking!. Assuming that is not the case, he really needs an antibiotic for the infection!. If you cannot get an antibiotic you can get two different things from the herb shop that will kill infection of this sort!. You can get a strong form of Oregano either in liquid or in pill form, known to kill infection, and colloidal silver!. Rinsing with the silver and using it as a nostril spray with also kill the infection!.

You can fight against the metallic taste by having citrus juices, lemonade and foods marinated in vinegar!. They not only break through the taste, but also help in saliva production that helps in washing away the metallic taste!.
Every time you brush your teeth, make sure to brush your tongue also!. It will help in lessening the metallic taste!.
You can also try rinsing your mouth with a solution made of a teaspoon of salt and eight ounces of water!.
Another option is to make a solution of 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and eight ounces of water and rinse your mouth with it!.

It could be something different, it could be the medication!. I know this isn't a proper answer to the question, but I really would take a visit to the doctor!.

Blood can taste metallic so I'd suggest that he call his physician for a check-up!. It might be nothing (or a normal consequence of the steriods or other meds) or maybe it is something more serious!. Bleeding like that can be related to esophagal problems which is potentially dangerous so to be safe, get it checked out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the metallic taste i think would most likely be from the blood!. i know everyone suggests it but go see a doctor! my mom's a doctor but lol she's at work so i couldn't get her input on this!.!.!.but the blood could be maybe from the steroids!?!? i don't know do you know the side effects of the medicine!? you should definitely ask your doctor because throwing up blood is a big concern!.!.!.it may be because of the medicine, or at least i think because one time i took ibuprofen for many days straight and my stomach was hurting and i started to get blood in my stools and now i learned my lesson definitely don't go on meds too long lol but yeah i think it's the medicine!. but i am no doctor myself! just what i think!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'm not a Doctor, but I recently heard that a metallic taste could be linked to a stroke!. (Not that it IS that of course) I would check on the side effects with the medication!. Blood generally has a metallic taste- so I suppose it could be lasting effect from when he woke up with blood in his mouth!.!.!.however, Strep throat is pretty nasty, so he may have been tasting blood from the infection!.!.!.!.Again, not a Doctor, hope that helped in some way!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
