Why does my chest hurt days after my first jog?!

Question: Why does my chest hurt days after my first jog!?
I recently quit smoking but I have always walked fast paced in the afternoons even when I did smoke!. I decided to go for a jog yesterday and my chest has hurt me all day today!. Has anyone experienced this before!? I have never really ran that much before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There could be two reasons!.
If you are chesty, the constant quick movement of the breast can cause discomfort if you did not wear a good athletic Bra!. For running this is pretty much mandantory to avoid pain and discomfort!.

You pushed too hard for your first run is the other answer, start by running 200 steps and then walking 200!. As youre stamina and wind increase decrease the number of walking steps you take!.
However keep in mind that alot of experts say you are much better off "power walking" as it doesnt put as much pressure on the joints and ligaments!.

Even though you've quit smoking, your lungs and body will suffer from long term side-effects!. Best thing to do, at least what worked for my mother (quit smoking 7 years ago)!.!.!.!.

-Jog or run as much as you possibly can, keep your heart rate strong and active!.
-Take a D vitamin or a Calcium/Magnesium Vitamin every day to keep your bones stronger (smokers have huge bone loss, so careful)!.
-If you can't run, try to walk places!.!.!.park far away from the grocery store, walk in rather than using the drive-thru, etc!.!.!.
-STAY ACTIVE!! Keep your upper respiratory strong with "Emergen-C" and water every other day, eat healthy and keep your CARDIO up up up!

Good luck! =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your muscles around your ribcage are fatigued!. Also, if you have breathed very deeply, you have stressed your lungs by stretching your aveoli like they've never been stressed before!.

My lungs burn doing Tenessee turns (swimming)!. But my whole chest hurt when I got back into running!. But that was a long time ago!. At my age, I have to ease into it so that I do not stress myself too much!. People my age who were atheletes once upon a time, tend to kill themselves with heart attacks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usally stuff hurts when you dont stretch be4 your workout!. An also you said you never ran that much be4 your body is prolly not use to it!. happens the same with me when it comes to lifting weights, i forget to stretch or i push myself to far!. Should probally jog a little less and do that more consistentlyWww@Answer-Health@Com

Its probably because your lungs have been damaged from the smoking so you can't get enough air in your lungs!. Since you haven't jogged that much recently you might just be a little out of shape or your body isnt used to going that far!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have and i never smoked but when you run hard it makes your hurt and maybe it is gas of you just need to relax and breathe so you can get your chest to stop hurtingWww@Answer-Health@Com

well because you used 2 smoke, its harder for your lungs to take in oxygen, thus, you might have chest pain until your lungs start to heal, however if it doesnt start to go away, you should prolly go to the doctorsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Carry on slowly and the pains should subside but you should always get a medical opinion before starting an exercise programme!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Me, i quit then it hurt two weeks while jogging/running its normal and it will stop!. Good job in quitting its real hard!!!
